FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. Things do do in Cancun?
If this is your first time coming to Cancun, you have to know there are plenty of activities in the region to enjoy with your family and friends. If you’re looking for adventure, then you should definitely try one of our tours including ATVs, rappel, zipline or cliff jump. If you’re looking for a more cultural excursion, then you should go to one of the archeological sites on the area such as Tulum, Coba or Chichen Itzá where you will discover the ruins of the Mayan civilization. You can also enjoy other water attractions such as natural reserve mixed with snorkel and adventure in a park like Xel-ha.
Q. What Mayan ruins are close to Cancun?
Tulum and Coba are the closest ruins from Cancun (2 hours drive give or take). If you have more time and want to discover a much bigger site, then you should definitely go to Chichen Itzá. If your departure point is from Playa del Carmen, then you’re only 1 hour away from Tulum, 1:30 from Coba and 2 hours from Chichen Itzá.
Q: Should I go to Tulum or another ruins site?
For cruise passengers, Tulum is the best option. It’s close, doesn’t take too long to tour, and it is highly memorable. For hotel guests, we always recommend Chichen Itzá, but if the drive seems too long, then Tulum is a great option. You’ll always remember looking out over that sea. Then you have the rest of the day to do as you please.

Q. Is pre-booking activities and travel on the internet necessary?
Yes! Many people who decide to wait until their arrival in Cancun to book their activities find out that the popular activities, sell out weeks in advance. They are disappointed, and have to settle for the second-rate activities. They are also shocked to find out that most hotels and travel agencies add significant surcharges onto the tour rates that they charge. Our tour discounters are able to offer big savings over those hotel tour desks, and we consolidate many tour operators into one site so you can have the widest selection possible. Cancun hotels, and also hotels in Playa Del Carmen and the Riviera Maya, as well as other Mexico locales charge tour companies a fee to set up their booth at the hotel. To cover this charge, and the commissions that the hotel receives for tours sold, the tour provider must charge higher rates to cover their costs. If you reserve online in advance, you’ll avoid all those nasty hotel surcharges and save money on your Cancun tours, excursions and activities!
Many of the most popular Cancun activities, excursions and tours sell out well in advance. If you want to swim with turtles, or take a jungle tour, you’d better reserve online before you travel, or you’re taking a big chance on being disappointed.
