Tulum and Coba are the closest ruins from Cancun (2 hours drive give or take). If you have more time and want to discover a much bigger site, then you should definitely go to Chichen Itzá. If your departure point is from Playa del Carmen, then you’re only 1 hour away from Tulum, 1:30 from Coba and 2 hours from Chichen Itzá.

For cruise passengers, Tulum is the best option. It’s close, doesn’t take too long to tour, and it is highly memorable.
